HISTORY The Doncaster Inn was built in the late 1830’s to accommodate the many migrants and graziers establishing themselves in the district. A large hotel of over 37 rooms, it became the centre of social life and gambling in the village until it was purchased by the Catholic Church and converted to a Convent in 1880. The Good Samaritan Order, 20 years later, demolished the old pub and built a Convent of grand proportions using the original convict made bricks and solid granite foundations of the original inn. Since 1974 the Convent has been running as a B & B and today is a fine boutique hotel. Braidwood is a comfortable 2 hours 45 min drive from Sydney Airport,
45 mins from Goulburn and Bateman’s Bay and only 60 mins from Canberra.
Located at 650 metres above sea level on the Southern Tablelands of NSW
it enjoys four distinct seasons. The property is located at the corner
of Park Lane and Wilson Sts in the centre of the village and within easy
walking distance of the many attractions. |
